When inclement weather or an emergency forces the closure of the College or a delayed start of classes, announcements will be made using the Omnilert text message and email system, the College’s website, TV monitors, regional television and radio stations and social media. Voice messages will also be placed on the main College phone numbers (215-641-6300 for Blue Bell Campus and 610-718-1800 for Pottstown Campus).

Weather Message Definitions
Day classes
Day classes are those that begin BEFORE 3:30 p.m.
Evening classes
Evening classes are those that begin AT or AFTER 3:30 p.m.
For example: If your class runs from 3-5 p.m., it is a day class. If your class runs from 4-6 p.m., it is an evening class.
Closed
A closed message means all campuses and learning locations, including The Culinary Arts Institute in Lansdale, are closed for students and employees. All activities are canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Delayed Openings
10 a.m. opening - If Montco opens at 10 a.m., all classes ending before 10 a.m. are canceled. Classes starting before 10 a.m. but ending after 10 a.m. will be held from 10 a.m. until regular class ending time. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Example: If your class is scheduled to run from 9:30-11 a.m., your class will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at its normal time. If your class is normally scheduled to run from 8-9:30 a.m., that class is canceled.
11 a.m. opening - If Montco opens at 11 a.m., classes starting before 11 a.m. but ending after 11 a.m. will be held from 11 a.m. until regular class ending time. All classes ending at 11:05 or 11:10 a.m. are canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Mid-day opening - If Montco opens at 12:30 p.m., classes starting before 12:30 p.m. and ending after 12:30 p.m. will be held from 12:30 p.m. until regular class ending time. Classes ending at 12:35 p.m. are canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Closed for day classes/open for evening classes – If Montco is closed for day classes, a decision will be made by 2 p.m. whether the College will be open for evening classes. Evening classes begin at or after 3:30 p.m. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Early Dismissal
Mid-day closure – If Montco closes at noon (12 p.m.), classes in session will end at noon; classes that start at noon or later, including evening classes, are canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
1:30 p.m. closure - If Montco closes at 1:30 p.m., classes starting before 1:30 p.m. will end at 1:30 p.m., and classes and activities starting at or after 1:30 p.m. will be canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Afternoon closure - If a decision is made to close early, Montco will announce the time of closure, and all evening classes and activities will be canceled. Day classes are those that begin before 3:30 p.m. Evening classes are those that begin at or after 3:30 p.m. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Evening closure
Evening classes canceled - If a decision is made to cancel evening classes, all classes that start at or after 3:30 p.m. are canceled. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
Campus/location closure
If a decision is made to close or delay only one campus or location, the message will specify that information. In this case, messaging applies only to the specified location, and the remaining College campuses/locations remain open and operating on a normal schedule. Students should check Canvas for their coursework.
